·         FURTHER ASSESSMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

There will be no further assessment opportunities for the 1.3 and 1.5 internal standards as these consist of a series of tasks. The teacher is permitted to make suggestions for improvement as the year progresses, but these standards are not assessed formally until after final submission date. Therefore it is very important that you refer closely to the assessment guidelines and prepare thoroughly. Take the teacher’s advice and ask for clarification where needed.

·         Resubmission Opportunities:  Students may be asked to submit further information if there is a single issue causing the complete assessment task to not meet the standard for achievement.

·         AUTHENTICITY:

All parts of your work conveyed in this conversation must be entirely your own.  You are not permitted to directly copy into your work sample sentences/expressions from the examples given on the task overleaf unless they have been significantly manipulated to show that they are your own. If there is doubt that the work you present is not your own, the school’s authenticity policy may be called upon.

·         EXTENSIONS    No extensions are possible.

·         APPEALS

Your teacher will go over the assessment schedule when your assessment is returned after the final submission date.  It is your responsibility to query any problems with marker decisions at this stage.  If you feel your queries are not satisfactorily resolved, you should speak to the Teacher-in-Charge of this language.

·         MISSED ASSESSMENTS

If a student misses an assessment and is not present during the assessment period, she must bring a medical certificate from a New Zealand registered medical practitioner dated on or immediately prior to the date of assessment and covering the date(s) of the assessment to be able to sit the assessment at another time. If she is absent for reasons of bereavement or other unavoidable absence (such as school business), she must make arrangements as appropriate.

If a student has been absent from the teaching of the coursework for the standard through illness or for other legitimate reasons and are not able to cover the missed coursework and assessment will have “SNA” (Standard not Assessed) recorded for that standard.

Students who fail to hand in assessments will have “Not Achieved” recorded for that standard unless compassionate reasons apply for “SNA” to be recorded.

According to the WGHS NZQA/NQF policy, students cannot reschedule assessments because they go on holiday.
Note: (i)  This applies to 1.2 speaking standard.
(ii)  The ongoing creation of the portfolios for 1.3 AS ….  And 1.5AS…. means that if an assessment task is missed, there will be no further opportunity to sit that particular task.

·         VERIFYING GRADES

Students are required to verify the sighting and acceptance of the grade awarded by signing the result sheet once grades have been recorded on the school’s computer system.

·         ATTENDANCE

If you are absent for an assessment test due to a school-approved absence, you must discuss alternative arrangements in advance with your class teacher (Refer Missed Assessments).  If your absence is due to illness, you will be required to produce a medical certificate.  Any unapproved absence may result in a grade of Not Achieved
